MD Writer is a native editor for people who want Markdown to remain a file format, not become a publishing platform. It opens .md and plain-text documents directly on Mac, iPhone, and iPad.

The app concentrates on four jobs:

  • Write on any device in a spacious, native editor while keeping the same file-based workflow.
  • See Markdown structure for headings, quotes, links, code, lists, and YAML front matter, with raw source available when precision matters.
  • Apply common formatting from a small desktop toolbar or touch-friendly mobile controls.
  • Return to work quickly through recent files, adjustable type, and Light, Dark, or Forest themes.

Native document opening and autosave, word count, reading time, and custom document types round out the app. The shared editor layer keeps behaviour consistent across Apple platforms while the document itself remains yours.
