MD Writer

MD Writer is a native Markdown app for people who want writing to stay simple, local, and distraction-light across Mac, iPhone, and iPad. Instead of turning Markdown into a heavy publishing system, it works directly with .md and plain-text documents and gives them a more polished, intentional editing experience.

The product is organized around four practical jobs:

• Calm writing surface across devices: keep the editor spacious, text-first, and native on Mac, then carry the same file-based workflow onto iPhone and iPad.
• Markdown-aware editing with source control: style headings, quotes, links, code, lists, and YAML front matter while switching between formatted markdown and raw source when precision matters.
• Fast formatting without ceremony: add headings, emphasis, lists, and block quotes from a lightweight desktop formatting bar or touch-friendly mobile controls.
• Quicker access and personal tuning: reopen recent files from a Mac sidebar, adjust font size, and switch between Light, Dark, and Forest themes depending on the writing context.

MD Writer also includes native document opening and autosave, word count and reading time, custom document types for Markdown and plain text, and a shared editor/core layer that keeps the experience local-first across Apple platforms. It is built as a quiet writing tool for long-form Markdown work: minimal ceremony, strong readability, and full ownership of the file.
